IV Iron Therapy

Restore your vitality with medically supervised iron infusions

What is IV Iron Therapy?

IV Iron Therapy is a wellness-focused infusion designed to help restore iron levels when oral supplements are not well tolerated or effective. Iron is delivered directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous infusion, allowing for efficient absorption without relying on the digestive system.

At Shemirani Beauty Clinic, IV iron infusions are administered by a registered nurse in a calm, supportive environment, following a personalized assessment and review of your bloodwork.

Why Women Consider Iron Infusions

Many women are told their bloodwork looks “normal,” yet they still feel off. That’s because standard lab ranges don’t always reflect how your body feels, and symptoms of low iron often overlap with stress, aging, or simply being busy.

Common signs that may be linked to low iron include:

  • Persistent fatigue that doesn’t fully improve with rest

  • Trouble concentrating or ongoing “brain fog”

  • Pale skin, brittle nails, or hair thinning

  • Unusual cravings (like ice or clay)

  • Feeling lightheaded, with a racing heartbeat or shortness of breath

  • Mood changes such as irritability or low motivation

When these issues continue despite lifestyle or supplement changes, it might be time to explore IV iron therapy.

IV Iron vs Oral Iron Supplements

Many people start with oral iron supplements, but they don’t work the same way for everyone.

Oral iron may be challenging because:

  • It relies on digestion for absorption

  • It can cause stomach discomfort or constipation

  • Absorption may be reduced by food, medications, or gut sensitivity

  • Results can take months, if noticeable at all

IV iron therapy offers an alternative by delivering iron directly into the bloodstream, allowing the body to access it without digestive limitations. This approach is often chosen when oral supplements haven’t provided adequate support.

How IV Iron Therapy Can Help

Iron is essential for how your body produces energy and supports every system. When levels are low and oral supplements haven’t worked, IV iron infusions may help improve. At Shemirani Beauty Clinic, we treat iron deficiency safely with IV iron infusions done by a RPN.

If you have never received IV iron before, we start with a test dose:
100 mg Venofer – $180*

After we confirm you have no side effects, we increase in dosage in the following sessions:
200 mg Venofer – $250*
300 mg Venofer – $300*

Most patients with iron deficiency need around 600 mg total; usually given in 3 sessions.

📅 Interval: You can do each infusion once a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an iron infusion cost in Ontario?

The cost of an iron infusion can vary based on the type of iron used, dosage, and number of treatments required. During your consultation, our healthcare provider will review your bloodwork, determine the most suitable treatment plan, and provide clear, upfront pricing before you begin. We believe in full transparency — no hidden fees or surprise costs.

Are iron infusions covered by OHIP or private insurance?

Iron infusions are not covered by OHIP. However, many extended health insurance plans may cover part or all of the treatment, especially when prescribed for medical reasons. We offer direct billing with most major insurance providers to make your experience smooth and stress-free. If you’re unsure about your coverage, our team can help you check before your appointment.

How do you get an iron infusion in Toronto?

At Shemirani Beauty Clinic, it starts with a free consultation. We’ll review your symptoms, health history, and lab results to determine if IV iron therapy is appropriate for you. If it is, we’ll schedule your infusion at a convenient time — right here in our relaxing, medically supervised setting.

How quickly do iron infusions work?

Many people start to notice improvements in energy, focus, and mood within a few days to a few weeks after their first infusion. The timeline depends on how low your iron levels were before treatment, how your body absorbs iron, and your overall health. Our care team monitors your progress and recommends follow-up testing to track your results.

How many iron infusions are usually needed?

The number of infusions varies from person to person. Some individuals feel better after one or two treatments, while others may need several sessions spaced a few weeks apart. During your consultation, we’ll create a personalized plan to restore and maintain your iron levels safely.

How long do the benefits last?

Once your iron stores are replenished, results can last for several months to a year. This depends on your diet, menstrual cycle, and any underlying health conditions that may affect iron absorption or loss. We’ll guide you on nutrition and lifestyle steps to help maintain healthy iron levels longer.

What are the possible side effects?

Iron infusions are generally well-tolerated. Some people may experience mild temporary effects such as fatigue, lightheadedness, or soreness at the injection site. Serious reactions are rare, and every treatment is administered under medical supervision to ensure your comfort and safety.
